Using the ARTstor Digital Library

In this two-part interview series, Madeleine Fix interviews Hunter College Visual Resources Librarian Steven Kowalik about using the ARTstor digital library with Blackboard course and community sites. In addition to providing ARTstor support to the Hunter College community, Kowalik’s work in the Visual Resources Library supports the study and teaching of the world’s visual culture by maintaining a collection of 250,000 slides and 30,000+ digital images depicting art and architecture from prehistoric times to the present. Kowalik also supports the Hunter Library Web Kiosk, the Hunter College online digital image library.

She talks about how she uses the community that she leads to coordinate administrative tasks. She organizes the department units into groups allowing supervisors to manage projects and staff members to work collectively.

We conducted interviews with Blackboard community leaders who use their communities for different purposes: for undergraduate advisement, for field placement coordination, for online collaboration among writing fellows, and for coordination of administrative tasks. In this episode, Nancy Guerrero interviews Prof. Lynne Kemen, the undergraduate advisor of the Psychology Department.
